Global education helps students grow in many ways. Socially and emotionally, it teaches them to understand and respect people from different cultures and backgrounds. This helps them build better relationships and become kinder and open minded. Academically, it connects what they learn in school to real world issues, helping them think deeply. It also helps students learn about fairness and doing what is right, which supports their ethical growth. Global education also prepares students for a diverse and connected world. It helps them learn how to work with others, communicate better, and understand different perspectives. As a future teacher, this shows me that teaching is not just about lessons, but also about helping students become respectful and thoughtful people who are ready for the real world. Global education helps students become people who can work well with others and make good choices.

Educators have a responsibility to help students learn how to navigate the vast amount of information available online. Teachers should show and tell the kids how to safely use the internet and that everything you see online may not be true. Teachers now have more control over what students can access during class time on the internet. They might only let children look on certain websites but it's important to teach students about finding good information and being safe on the internet. Teachers should help students know if something is real or fake. Teachers can show them how to look and see who wrote the information and where it came from. This is very important to know about now because students are using the internet every day for school but also for their personal use. Kids use it to watch videos, play games, and to use social media. It is very important to know that people can post things that are not always true. As educators it is important to make sure that we tell stude...

One teaching trend from Chapter 6 that I find challenging as a future teacher is the inclusion classroom. In this setting, students with disabilities learn alongside students without disabilities. I learned that this approach helps everyone feel included and gives all students a chance to learn and socialize together. This trend matters today because classrooms now have many different types of learners, especially since COVID-19. Many students need extra academic and emotional support, and inclusion helps schools provide that. It also teaches students to be kind, patient, and accepting of others.     This trend feels challenging because I worry about meeting everyone’s needs at once. Teaching students with IEPs, gifted students, and general education students together sounds stressful. I am also nervous about whether I will have enough experience and support to do this well. This is an area of concern because I would want to make sure that I was able to support all of...

Student diversity is a good thing, but it can also be challenging. My future students will likely be different from me in many ways, such as their culture, language, family life, and learning needs. Some students may come from homes that are very different from the one I grew up in. Others may face challenges like limited resources or learning difficulties. I grew up in a stable home and did not face some of the challenges my students may face such as having divorced parents, DHR issues, not having food, or other uncertainties. I will be able to relate in some ways. As a young child, I faced health issues and struggles with dyslexia.I feel that going through these things will help me understand students who are facing these issues and have more compassion for them. To understand my students better, I will take time to get to know them. I will listen to their stories, interests, and experiences. I can learn about their lives by talking with them, working with their families, and paying ...

Thrifting, or shopping at secondhand stores to find unique and affordable items, can serve as both a window and a mirror for students. A lesson about thrifting can be a window by showing students how people can be resourceful, save money, and help the environment by reusing items. It also lets them see how fun it can be to search for unique pieces and enjoy the thrill of finding something special. The lesson can be a mirror because students may see themselves being creative, saving money, or enjoying shopping in a fun and smart way. Thrifting shows that being resourceful can also be enjoyable.

I remember taking Standardized Tests when I was in elementary school. In the weeks leading up to the tests the teachers were stressed. I couldn’t sleep anticipating how I would do on the tests. I know the teachers were just trying to get everyone to try their best but it really put a lot of pressure on those of us who were worried already. The testing environment was very intimidating to me. I always worried that I would run out of time and not be able to answer all the questions on the tests. When I was eight, I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis. This can lead to needing to use the bathroom more often than others. Stress is also not good for someone who suffers from this. I was always afraid that I would need to go to the bathroom during the test. I personally am not a fan of standardized testing.  I do not feel that it gives an accurate measurement of where students are. Some students have testing anxiety and do not do well with tests. I feel that there are better ways to det...

The experiences that I had throughout my childhood did play a part in my decision to become a teacher. As a young child I experienced several years of significant health issues. During this time, I had some very caring teachers who helped me to remain successful although I had to miss school due to multiple hospital stays and two major surgeries. They never made me feel like I was different or a burden. They spent extra time helping me after hours and even took their personal time to come and visit me in Birmingham at the hospital. That really meant a lot to me and my family. They were supportive and helped me to be successful. The impact that my teachers, along with the nurses I came in contact with as a young child, helped me determine that I wanted to do something when I was older in my life to help children. I wanted to give back and help others. I do have some concerns about teaching as a career. The main concern I have is properly running my classroom. I know that a lot of figurin...
