Blogger Journal Entry 3
I remember taking Standardized Tests when I was in elementary school. In the weeks leading up to the tests the teachers were stressed. I couldn’t sleep anticipating how I would do on the tests. I know the teachers were just trying to get everyone to try their best but it really put a lot of pressure on those of us who were worried already. The testing environment was very intimidating to me. I always worried that I would run out of time and not be able to answer all the questions on the tests. When I was eight, I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis. This can lead to needing to use the bathroom more often than others. Stress is also not good for someone who suffers from this. I was always afraid that I would need to go to the bathroom during the test. I personally am not a fan of standardized testing. I do not feel that it gives an accurate measurement of where students are. Some students have testing anxiety and do not do well with tests. I feel that there are better ways to determine whether a student is where they need to be academically through progress monitoring regularly.
